Sony didn't publish haze... Ubisoft did. Publishers are in charge of the majority of advertising

Only a small (a very small) portion of sales come from non-casual gamers (the kind that don't spend time on gametrailers or here), especially in the US.

I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of money on the fact that 75% of Gears of War's sales in the US were from people who didn't even know about the game until the advertising kicked in.

Regardless of how hot a game is in gamer circles, advertising can and will greatly affect sales.

Putting two people that can already make great action games together is just a waste of one of them.

It would be better to just have them make 2 different games.

It's not an entirely illogical leap to assume that Itagaki would move to MGS. They didn't even word it as if it were a fact.

The title of the article itself is a flippin question.

Cool ur jets guys. If they said that microsoft did, in fact, offer him a deal, then you can be pissed. They are more than free to speculate.

I'm sure if we removed all the articles that were just opinions, a lot more would be removed from the other side of the fence (every 360 ...

If microsoft offered him his own studio, that's better than anything anyone else would be likely to give him. He could get a project lead anywhere, but running a studio gives you ultimate control in every regard.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like they did with mystwalker.

Sony announced and pushed a lot of it's big titles for the next 2-3 years already. That's quite a break with tradition. Usually companies wait until the E3 the year before (or GDC sometimes) to formally announce their lineup for the next year.

Do not mistake not announcing your titles with not having titles.

You smell bad...

On topic: good post. bubbles.

The 360 won't be in trouble unless it gets outsold by more than 75% in the holiday season, or falls behind the PS3 in all regions by a significant margin.

IMO the 360 is already on par to be more than a success for M$ considering the market they entered and the time they entered it. Even if sales start to drop significantly.

I disagreed and took your bubbles because you learn that in early econ. Highschool level even.

(kidding about the bubbles and disagree)

But yes. They do know what they're doing. I'd say M$ especially, because it's in a control position not a respond position for the price of it's system. Sony is affected a lot more by price cuts microsoft makes than microsoft is by price cuts Sony makes. Microsoft will be affected by MGS more than any but a matching price cut by sony...

When did burnout and DMC4 look better on the PS3? They look different. 360 is better quality for GTA4, but the colors are different (omgz teh disagreez! see link for proofz. it's the links in my comment in there for pictures), and the 360 has a little pop in (probably on account of no install. Why it wasn't an option, idk)

"Plus your little maths equation doesn't take into account that the XB sales are SLOWING. Not gaining, no even holding steady, but going backwards. The only thing worse could be to stop selling all together or customers actually giving Xboxes back"

they aren't slowing. They are speeding up less quickly. The whole video game market is growing a lot.

"And stop hiding behind that "New kid on the block" crap because XBox will be in its 3rd genera...

You're stupid. GoW2 isn't it's lifeline. GoW2 could flop and 360 could support itself on the user base it has now through the first half of 2009.

It does need a price drop, but it's just idiocy to think one isn't coming. They've dropped the price every time they updated the interiors, and they're doing that this summer.

Don't worry about the 360 so much. What's the PS3 going to do when it's the only console over $100 more expensive than the other two for the cheapest...

Just like that PS3 flop AMIRITE?!

That thing's dead as a doornail after all those people spoke so poorly about it.

Can someone link to the actual article. I've been link hopping for a while, and I can't find anything more informative than the summary.

He never even hinted at having a preference. He just said he wanted comparisons available before he purchased the game.

Look at NFS. Those differences are not negligible. The engine was obviously designed to run on the 360. It has higher detailed environments and the lighting is many times better. That's something I'd want to know before I bought the game.

The only difference is brightness and tone.

I edited a 360 image by shifting it 15 points towards blue and something like 12 points darker and the images looked almost exactly the same except the PS3 version was a little blurrier.

Is lighting. Both platforms do lighting extremely differently. I prefer the 360's tbh. Even if it had lower contrast in the colors in textures, it more than makes up for it in light contrast.

That's the one thing I've seen consistently in PS3 games. The lighting seems to static throughout areas. Even in the darkest areas, things still seem to have a certain amount of light to them. Look in the corners of the titles and you'll see what I mean. You go from extremely bright brights ...

What do you consider low... lower than perfect? lower than 90%? 80?

6602d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

no... that would make no sense.

They all use different engines, they'd all be focusing on different subjects, they'd all be optimized for different purposes, and they'd all have different core styles.

WHICH IS BETTER VAN GOGH OR REMBRANDT?! GO!
